Did You Know You Can Make A Romantic Valentine's Day Dinner With Recipes From HCCUA?
Along with Presidential birthday holidays and being the shortest month in the modern calendar, February is well known for the Valentine’s Day holiday celebrated on February 14th by many people throughout the world. Valentine’s Day celebrations began in the 19th century in England and the United States through exchanging love notes. Celebrations became more widely popularized in 1847 when Esther Howland of Worcester, MA commercialized her handmade Valentine’s Day cards based on the British models opening the opportunity for more abundant and far-reaching audiences.
The traditional purpose of the Valentine’s Day holiday was to have a day when lovers could declare their love for each other by sending Valentine’s Day cards, presenting flowers, or offering gifts. The modern Valentine’s Day celebrations have expanded into declaring one’s love for their families, children, friends, and others in addition to their lovers or spouses. The modern celebration still includes cards and gifts, but is also marked by celebratory dinners.
In these recessionary times, it isn’t necessary to forego the usually expensive Valentine’s Day celebration dinner in a crowded restaurant.
