Never Put Off Happiness

To be happy, you must live life to the fullest, each and every day. This is very hard to do when you are continually putting off who you want to be or what you want to do. If you take a moment to think about it, the idea of putting off going after what you want for another time really makes little sense.

Have you ever said to yourself, "Someday I'll find a job that pays better money" or "Tomorrow or the next day I'll be able to spend some quality time with my family" or "Possibly in a few years I'll be able to take that trip to Europe that I've always wanted to take"? When you say these things, what you are actually saying is that you will accept being unhappy today because maybe someday things will be different and you can be happy. Unfortunately for many people, that someday never comes.

Why do so many people allow themselves to live life in a state of unhappiness and discontent while they hope that someday it will change? The reasons so many people live life this way is because they believe that it is not possible to achieve the goals that will bring them happiness. In a sense, they may feel that happiness comes from the outside instead of within themselves.  To be happy, they believe that happiness must come from an outside source.

When a person gets stuck in this type of belief rut, they might never achieve true happiness. It really makes no sense to say that a person will accept being unhappy in hopes that someday it will change. Look within yourself for what will enable you to be happy and begin to work toward that goal now, not tomorrow. If spending more time with your family is something that would make you happy, but you fear taking time from your career take a step back for a moment and think about it.

In the case that your career is preventing you from finding happiness and a fulfilling relationship with your family, is that career really more important than family? Making the time to spend with your family may help you to be happier, and your career probably won't suffer as much as you think.

Do you want to travel to Europe, Australia, or a deserted island in the Pacific? Maybe you want to explore the Amazon. You probably think you don't have the time or the money. Most people can make time to do something that they really care about.  Cut expenses to make up for what it might cost. It could take you a little while to save enough for your dream adventure, but you will be working toward that goal instead of just saying someday.

If there is something that you want to do and it will make you happy, just do it. As long as it brings harm to no one, you are doing exactly what you should be doing: living life to the fullest.
