Programming Yourself for Success

We all have those moments when doubt and discouragement takes its toll and completely knocks us off track from what we set out to do. If you have this problem, you are not alone. The good news is that there are ways to combat this and program your mind and life for success.

First understand that there will be days of doubt and discouragement. Know that they will come and be prepared to deal with them. When you are hit with days like that, look at it for what it really is. Your outlook could be dismal at the moment for several reasons. You could be tired, stressed, or simply going through a difficult time. All these things can cast shadows on your life and what you are trying to achieve, but that does not mean that the shadow really has an effect on the whole picture. In the morning, it is possible that things will seem much brighter than they did the night before. This is where that old advice about sleeping on something before making any drastic decisions comes in handy. If you find that you are feeling bad about a problem or other situation in your life, simply walk away for a little while and come back to it later. You may find that it was nowhere near as bad as you thought it was.

The next step should be to focus on what gives you inspiration and motivation. No matter what it is we try to achieve in life, there is something that inspired us to reach for that achievement. Go back to what originally inspired you. Are you trying to start your own business, having problems in your personal relationships, or want to be a successful screenwriter? Problems and challenges such as these are sometimes the motivation we need that inspire and motivate us to work toward a solution, a goal. Try to remember the original problem that you were trying to solve or the challenge that set you on your path.

Remember, obstacles are nothing more than stepping stones to success. Don't let them discourage you or let them bring doubt to your ability to be successful. Very few obstacles are severe enough to totally throw your life off course; there are always ways around them, and you will learn a great deal from these obstacles as well.

Never let negative thoughts color your judgment. As soon as you let negative thoughts into the equation, you have reduced your chances for success significantly. Most of the time it is a negative outlook that causes us to fail.

If you look at the day's workload and think to yourself that you will never get it done, you probably won't. On the other hand if you think that it really won't be that difficult, you may be surprised at how much you get done.

To program yourself for success, you must rid yourself of all those negative thoughts that hold you back.
